Y-Junction:
Youth Development Programs

The Y-Junction empowers culturally diverse youth with early, holistic support that builds resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of identity. Each program within the Y-Junction is interconnected, creating a cohesive support network that helps young people feel seen, supported, and inspired to reach their potential. By forming lasting relationships from a young age, we guide youth through life’s challenges, enriching their academic, social, and emotional well-being. We aim to foster positive change and build a thriving, inclusive community for the next generation.

Our Support

Homework Program

Since 2007, the Homework Program has been a cornerstone for the CALD community, providing transformative support for over 15 years. This program goes beyond academic assistance, offering a holistic approach that nurtures well-being, builds self-confidence, and promotes respectful interactions. In a safe and inclusive environment, students are empowered to reach their full potential with the support of dedicated volunteer tutors and MFO’s skilled staff. Our model has become a benchmark, adopted by other services across Australia to support diverse youth effectively.

Wellbeing Hub

The Wellbeing Hub focuses on promoting mental wellbeing and emotional resilience among primary students in Years 4 through 6. Through group sessions held within schools, students engage in activities designed to enhance self-awareness, develop practical coping skills, and encourage open discussions on emotional well-being. This safe, supportive space enables young students to grow with confidence, equipping them with the tools to navigate their emotions and build resilience.

Mentoring Program

The Mentoring Program offers personalized support for students in Years 7 to 12, focusing on wellbeing, cultural identity, and resilience-building. Through confidential, one-on-one sessions, students receive guidance that empowers them to strengthen their sense of self and wellbeing. Collaborating closely with schools, the program provides culturally informed care that helps youth develop skills for personal empowerment and resilience.

Youth Development Support

Youth Development Support is tailored for individuals aged 12 to 24, offering guidance to help them achieve personal goals, build essential life skills, and strengthen their overall well-being. Through personalized sessions, young people receive tailor support in areas. This program provides a foundation for personal growth, equipping youth with the resources they need to thrive in their communities.

Community Connections & Growth

The Y-Junction hosts a variety of supportive activities that enrich the lives of young people and their families. From Parents Hub sessions that build confidence and English skills, to school holiday outdoor learning activities and volunteer networking days, our events foster connection, growth, and community. We also actively support school community expos, leveraging our strong network with schools to share valuable information within the broader community.
